I decided to share one of my favorite articles with you today since it’s Thanksgiving tomorrow and I am sure most of you are as busy as I am. I coined the idea of DWYLT: Do What You Love, Today! This idea stemmed from the many emails that I have received over the years from people who are burned out on exercise and working out. 

I have definitely been in the same boat! DWYLT is the idea that instead of being a slave to cardio or the gym, that you listen to what your body is telling you it wants to do! I list the 15 different activities that I like to do depending on what I have the itch to do. It’s not about schedules, tracking performance or feeling like I “have to” do something. I wake up and decide to do what I love, today. 

Adopting this mentality will change you inside and out! It allows you the opportunity to put yourself first and do what you love to do. It will free you to play and enjoy movement and exercise! Imagine that!! Imagine not being dependent on motivation and do what you love, today!

She realized that relationships and living life in a healthy way was more important than giving over to body control. It was great being able to talk to her about her conversion from veganism to a whole foods diet and giving up total control of her food intake.

She also shares her journey through disordered eating and obsessive training to doing what she loves to do (speaking of which, be sure to head over to the new #DWYLT site to see our new shirts that are available for pre-order!) and having a healthier relationship with food and exercise.

We also discuss incorporating healthy whole foods slowly to allow your system time to adjust and doing the same with exercise. I really hope this episode inspires you to consider your relationship with food and exercise and helps motivate you to make positive changes for life!

It was a blast listening to them discuss ways to correct the sedentary issue that is so prevalent in society.

  • What are the negative impacts of sitting? Is it really that bad?
  • What is the deal with stagnation vs adaptation? What is the difference and how does it affect the body?
  • What are functional movements and how do you assess them?
  • What is the Sitting Solution? What are some interventions we can do to counter the effects of sitting?
  • What are some examples of exercises to do in The Sitting Solution? What else comes with it? (Anti-Inflammatory Guide, Shopping Guide, The Truth About Back Pain, The Secret to Sexy Shoulders, The Simple Solution to Pain Free Joints and Guide to Fats)
  • What is the correct way to foam roll? What’s the best way to use a roller? What is the best way to use it for the spine?
